Alice Cooper’s 2001 album Mascara and Monsters is his (at the time) Greatest Hits Album. A fantastic collection of songs with his well known anthems, “School’s Out”, “I’m Eighteen”, “Under My Wheels”, “Poison” and many others you’ve hear on the radio. I have this album on my phone and I realized the other day that when I go to play some Alice, I almost always start with the song “Generation Landslide”. It’s a bit different from his hard rocking’ riff driven songs but I can help but enjoy this one. It’s bouncy tune with cryptic lyrics about generational differences that gets you hooked from the first note. If I have limited time to listen, sometimes I’ll bookend this song with “Hello Horray” and “No More Mr. Nice Guy”.
BTW: Alice Cooper At Nights is a fantastic show to listen to nightly on your local radio (if you can get it locally, he’s syndicated). If he’s not on locally, his show is repeated on podcasts, so you can find it there. He plays some great classic rock and he’s got a story about almost every song or artist/band he plays. And, his book “Golf Monster” is a great read. So … Musician, Radio Host, Author, he’s got it all covered.
