This dirgey ballad is from Judas Priest’s second album Sad Wings Of Destiny in 1976. The album really cemented Judas Priest’s style and foundation as one of the creators of the Heavy Metal genre. “Epitaph” is a surprise addition to the hard edge rock of the rest of the album and may also have be an influence on later bands doing, what would become, a cliched metal ballad.
