I’ve never really been one for instrumental music, but I came across this song on a playlist one day and it stuck. The title caught my attention for starters, and then the gently lulling melody made me smile. The jingling sleigh bells throughout are a subtle but really nice touch.

The song is by a an indie/funk/soul band called Khruangbin, which translates to “airplane” in Thai. The band has Afghan, Spanish, and Thai influences to name a few, and it all makes for a really interesting sound. Not all of their tracks are instrumental, so not to worry if that’s not your thing.

Everything has a relaxing and refreshing feel to it. They’re the perfect band to put on in the background while you’re working or even if you just need a minute to unwind.

“A Calf Born in Winter” is my favorite by them, but “Friday Morning” and “Texas Sun (with Leon Bridges) are excellent as well.
